POST TITLE:   Training Officer

DUTY STATION: Somalia/Kenya

DURATION OF THE ASSIGNMENT: 7 months

STARTING DATES: January 2012


JOB ROLE, TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The Training Officer is responsible to assist the Training Manager in the training provision, education material preparation, and trainings organization,
  • He/She will be responsible to:
  • Coordinate with the supervision of the Training Manager the deliver process of training courses in Somalia, intended to define the mechanisms of food vouchers distribution and to improving the competence of relief workers caring out relevant activities,
  • Coordinate with the supervision of the Training Manager the implementation process of evaluation and reviewing workshops to IPs and the sessions of PDM trainings,
  • Prepare the materials for training of trainer courses and monitoring workshops and PDM trainings, in collaboration with the Training Manager and the Project Manager,
  • Contribute to develop other learning format,
  • Conduct with the supervision of the Training Manager and the Project Manager the monitoring visits to assess the project activities,
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager and the Training Manager to ensure consistency in the use of materials and the improvement of training best practices,
  • Facilitate the recruitment process of the PDM team.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum 3 year technical expertise in training provision,
  • Knowledge of humanitarian system, management and evaluation,
  • Humanitarian field experience in emergency missions and conflict environments,
  • Competence in practical training methods and adult learning,
  • Skills in practical training methods and adult learning,
  • Ability to apply standard criteria to assess project activities,
  • Stress-resilient and strong mentally to be able to cope with difficult situation, deadlines and complex problems,
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communications skills, ability to work in team,
  • Knowledge of MS Office packages such as Power Point, Word, Excel and Outlook,
  • Fluent in spoken and written English and Somali as advantage,
  • Somali/Kenyan national.
